A-League club Auckland FC and bank team up to give away $13,000 of shirts

A-League expansion club Auckland FC have partnered with the ANZ Bank in a publicity stunt that will lead fans on a treasure hunt to find 100 limited edition shirts.

The ‘Day 1′ replica blue and black shirts will be hidden in plain sight throughout Auckland in the days leading to Saturday October 19, 2024, when Auckland FC play their first men’s A-League game at Go Media Stadium Mt Smart.

By the time, the team kicks off against Brisbane Roar at 5pm, Aucklanders should have found the giveaway shirts that have a total retail value of about $13,000.

Clues of the shirts’ locations will be provided through @ANZAotearoa on Instagram.

“Football is all about the fans, and this is a fun way for ANZ to show its support for Auckland FC from day 1,” says ANZ general manager of data and marketing, Astrud Burgess.

“There will never be another day one or game one; what a moment to be a part of. Years from now, fans will be able to say we were there from day one.”

“I think it’s fabulous,” Auckland FC chief executive Nick Becker said.

“I couldn’t think of a better way to get people hyped, involved and for them to be able to proudly display their support from day 1. Football is about the fans and the culture they create and this delivers for fans in the best way possible.”

As well as the football shirt hunt, ANZ, a long-standing supporter of sport in New Zealand, will extend its support to youth football at grassroots level through Auckland FC’s youth development camps.

ANZ customers will enjoy exclusive benefits such as ticket discounts and will have access to an exclusive Auckland FC Visa Debit My Photocard.

The partnership includes having the ANZ logo on the back of the home and away player jersey and ANZ signage at Go Media home games.
