Former Hibiscus Coast coach Asher Trotter joins Samoa’s World Cup campaign

Former Hibiscus Coast women’s coach Asher Trotter has joined Samoa’s coaching staff as they start their campaign to qualify for the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup.

Trotter (31) has been appointed technical performance coach for the Samoan men’s national team.

Samoa play Vanuatu at Port Vila’s VFF Freshwater Stadium in their opening Group B game at the FIFA World Cup Oceania qualifier series.

Announcing Trotter’s role, Football Federation Samoa said: “Asher works closely with the head coach, overseeing and supporting all areas of team performance, tactical and technical preparation, team analysis, training and matchday performance, and player development.”

His appointment follows his departure from Hibiscus Coast where he was the club’s head of women’s football and women’s head coach.

Trotter oversaw the development of a strong women’s programme, culminating in Coast’s promotion to the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premiership, in which the club will compete for a third season next year.

Waikato-born Trotter is also the current head coach of the Māori Football National Team (Ngā Wāhine Whanapoikiri).
