North Wellington appoint coach to lead next season’s Central League campaign

Central League club North Wellington have named Stu Pyne as their men’s first team coach and are looking to recruit a full-time director of football.

Pyne (38) has previously coached at Stop Out and Petone, and has worked professionally in the Middle East. In his native England, he coached at Middlesbrough FC and Manchester United.

“I am excited to be joining the club and proud to become a part of its history,” Pyne told North Wellington’s website.

“With almost 1,000 members, a strong youth programme, excellent facilities and top technology, North Wellington FC is well positioned to challenge the very best in the country.

“The work to compete in the top half of the Central League has started, with a team who are brave, organised, and who give their all. I can’t wait for 2025!”

North Wellington finished 9th in the 10-club Central League last season.

North Wellington seek director of football

Meanwhile, North Wellington continue their search to recruit a full-time director of football to replace Ryan Faithfull who is relocating to the Pacific Northwest.

The club has called for expressions of interest for the role, which has the following key requirements:

  • A valid New Zealand visa status with the right to work.
  • A minimum qualification of an OFC/NZF B Licence, or equivalent.
  • A good understanding of the New Zealand and Wellington football landscape.
