Ferns forward Ava Collins signs for Danish first division club Kolding IF

New Zealand international forward Ava Collins has signed for top-tier Danish club Kolding IF.

Collins (22) joins the club after playing for St John’s Red Storm in New York and, more recently, having a short stint with Auckland United in the Lotto NRFL Women’s Premiership.

Kolding compete in Elitedivisionen, the premier Danish women’s football league.

The 16-cap Football Fern told Kolding IF’s website: “The club has so many great people working around it which makes it a great comfortable environment to be a part of. The girls have all been so welcoming and helpful in settling me in so I can’t wait to get started on this season.”

Kolding’s head coach Allan Drost said: “Ava is a player that I have followed for a while and when there was an opportunity to link Ava to the squad, I had no doubt that it was an option we had to pursue.

“With her speed and good 1 v 1 skills, she can handle all three forward positions and will be a challenge for all defences in the league.”

Collins played school football for Auckland’s St Cuthbert’s College and was with Eastern Suburbs before heading overseas in 2021.
