Sixty-four clubs have learned who they need to beat next to boost their dreams of Chatham Cup glory.
The draw for the 32 sudden death ties in the cup’s second round has been made by NZ Football.
Holders Christchurch United will face Southern League rivals Nomads United, while last season’s runners-up, Melville United, will head to play six-time cup winners North Shore United.
By coincidence, Coastal Spirit will host Cashmere Technical — the identical draw for the second round of the Kate Sheppard Cup.
Dunedin’s Northern club, who were founded in 1888 and claim to be the oldest continuously operating football club in the Southern Hemisphere, will host Mosgiel in the second round. Northern won the cup in 1959 and 1961.
