English Premier League club Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to open talks with New Zealand international striker Chris Wood for a new contract.

In-form Wood (32) has scored 18 goals for Forest in 27 EPL games since joining the club from Newcastle United.

His contract is reportedly due to expire in the English summer of 2025, meaning he would become a free agent unless Forest agreed a new deal with him.

Wood would be free to start talks with alternative clubs from January 1.

UK radio station TALKSPORT reports Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is “understandably keen to tie him down.”

Wood has been in hot form this season, scoring four goals in seven EPL outings.

The striker’s two most recent goals were for the New Zealand national team, scoring against Tahiti in the FIFA World Cup Oceania qualifier, and against Malaysia in the international friendly.
