WATCH: Malaysian coach Pau Marti says sorry to fans after losing to All Whites

Malaysia head coach Pau Marti has apologised to his side’s supporters who turned out in force to get behind the Tigers’ in their 4-0 international friendly loss to New Zealand.

In his post-match interview, Marti said: “First, I want to say sorry to the fans, especially to the fans, because everybody that supports us (and) that watch from Malaysia and also many that come to support us, they want to see their team to win and perform.

“Today we couldn’t deliver a good result for them.”

A vocal contingent of Malaysian fans were among the 8,513 crowd at Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium to see the All Whites scored four second-half goals to comfortably win against Malaysia.

Malaysia are rated #134 in the FIFA men’s world rankings while the All Whites rank #94.

Marti said New Zealand were one of the strongest teams faced by Malaysia recently and the game provided a good but difficult learning experience.

“I cannot complain about anything from our players,” he said.

“To face this kind of opposition … sometimes it’s difficult to face this kind of opposition so for us (it) was a a challenge and I think we will learn from it.”
