Football Fern Paige Satchell signs for National League champs Auckland United

Auckland United have signed New Zealand international forward Paige Satchell.

Satchell (26) became a free agent in June when her contract expired with the English Women’s Championship club London City Lionesses.

After a break, she says she’s now ready to join defending Women’s National League champions Auckland United.

“After taking some time away from football and moving back to New Zealand to focus on new areas of my career within sports management, I am looking forward to get back out on the field and playing again,” she told the club’s social media.

One of United’s founding clubs was Three Kings United.

“I used to play for Three Kings when I was in high school, so it’s nice to be back at a club that helped support me on my journey with the Ferns and my professional career overseas.”

Rotorua-born Satchell played professionally for five seasons, having played for SC Sand (Frauen Bundesliga), and for Canberra United, Sydney FC, and Wellington Phoenix in the Liberty A-League.

She was in the New Zealand squads for the FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments in 2019 and 2023.
