Auckland FC to pay clubs more than $100,000 through membership ‘kickbacks’

A-League expansion club Auckland FC will pay more than $100,000 to local clubs that supported their scheme to sell memberships ahead of their inaugural season.

Auckland FC say the payments come from their ‘kickback’ initiative in which clubs could earn 20% from every club membership sold

Auckland FC chief executive Nick Becker said: “From day one, we’ve wanted to be a part of the community in a meaningful way.

“We want the relationship and connection with the clubs to be authentic and genuine.

“It’s easy to say we value local clubs, but we believe in taking action. This initiative is our way of giving back, fostering genuine relationships, and investing in the future of football in Auckland.”

The kickback programme allows each member to nominate their local club when joining.

“This initiative strengthens our ties with local clubs and enriches the football community in Auckland,” Becker added.

“We are proud to contribute to something that matters.”

The initiative will also apply to any full season membership purchased in the month of October.

Additionally, through the signings of our eight youth players, their prior clubs have also received more $70,000 in FIFA training compensation payments.

Auckland FC’s inaugural match is against the Brisbane Roar on Saturday October 19, 2024.
