New Zealand Football have appointed six new members to their Women’s Committee, the group set up to guide and support the growth and success of women’s football.

The additions come after reviewing the terms of reference for the Women’s Committee as part of New Zealand Football’s Governance Mark work with Sport NZ.

The six appointed members were found following a national open appointment process calling for expressions of interest.

New Zealand Football said they wished to thank everyone who expressed an interest in applying.

For this committee, the successful candidates satisfied criteria including:

  • Knowledge and understanding of women’s football.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills.
  • A commitment to diversity.
  • Experience in governance.

The six appointees are:

  • Tania Cassidy (Southern Football region)
  • Robert Dol (WaiBOP region)
  • Emma Evans (Capital Football region)
  • Lisa Jones (Capital Football region)
  • Anna-Marie Keighley (WaiBOP region)
  • Carolyn Kerr (Northern Region Football region)

The committee will meet quarterly, starting November 4, 2024, with all members appointed on a four-year term until 2028.

New Zealand Football Women’s Development Manager Annalie Longo said: “The women’s game in Aotearoa New Zealand has grown rapidly over the past five years with the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, significant legacy programmes, and soon to be two professional women’s teams in Auckland and Wellington.

“But in order to keep up this momentum, it is important that we have structures in place like the Women’s Committee to support and guide all the brilliant work that is being done across the country.

“I’m excited about meeting with the group for the first time and helping to continue growing the game for women and girls.”

New Zealand Football Women’s Committee member Lisa Jones said: “As someone who has been involved in football federations, and with a number of community sports, I have seen the growth and potential of the women’s game.

“I’m really looking forward to being part of this committee to help guide and support the future of women’s football in Aotearoa New Zealand and continue the brilliant momentum from last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.”
