WATCH: Futsal Whites finish Bangkok tournament with 8-3 loss to Kuwait

New Zealand’s Futsal Whites have lost their fourth and final game at the Continental Futsal Championship in Thailand, beaten 8-3 by Kuwait.

Kuwait built an 8-0 lead before New Zealand reduced the deficit with two goals from Hamish Grey and a third from Art Twigg.

The five-nation tournament was held to help teams prepare for the FIFA Futsal World Cup which starts in Uzbekistan on Saturday September 14, 2024.

Kuwait, rated #35 in the FIFA futsal world rankings, are not competing at the World Cup.

New Zealand (#19), Guatemala (#40), Afghanistan (#30) and Thailand (#9) had four games each at the Bangkok tournament.

The FIFA Futsal World Cup takes place between September 14 and October 6, 2024, in three host cities in Uzbekistan: Andijan, Bukhara and Tashkent.

The six group winners, six runners-up and the four best third-placed teams will go into a Round of 16 knockout stage.

The winners go forward to quarter-finals, before sudden death semi-finals and the final.
