Field finalised for Men’s National League after Coastal Spirit seal qualification

Canterbury’s Coastal Spirit have claimed the final qualifying place in this year’s Men’s National League after securing second place in the Southern League.

Spirit made sure of their qualification with a 2-1 win against Universities of Canterbury, thanks to a late winner from an own goal.

Christchurch United’s hopes of returning for a second season in the national competition were dashed by Spirit’s win, and their own failure to beat champions Cashmere Technical.

The two rivals drew 1-1.
