Ferns forward Ruby Nathan signs new deal with A-League’s Canberra United

New Zealand international forward Ruby Nathan has agreed a new contract with women’s A-League club Canberra United.

Nathan (18) returns to the club after a spell with Lotto NRFL Women’s Premiership side Auckland United.

She made 21 appearances for Canberra during her first contract with the club in 2023-24.

“I worked with Ruby closely during the 2023/24 A-League season and know the quality that she can bring to the team in terms of her attacking output, and her defensive efforts,” Canberra United’s head coach Antoni Jagarienc said.

“Ruby is a diligent professional, a hard-worker, and is eminently coachable. She always gives her best when taking the field and can play in a variety of positions across the frontline, exactly what we are looking for in terms of our fluid attacking approach.”

“I was first attracted to the club after meeting the coaching staff and talking through the style of play and the set up at Canberra United,” Nathan said.

“I am delighted to be re-signing for the club under Antoni (Jagarinec) and I am looking forward to getting back out there in the green shirt.

“I enjoyed my first season at the club and now I will be aiming to push on and take my game to the next level. The fans got right behind me every time I was on the field last season, and I am keen to be part of this great club once again.”

Nathan’s performances for New Zealand at age group level earned her a call-up to the New Zealand national team in 2023 for the friendly matches against Colombia.
