New Zealand age group striker Kelli Brown signs for A-League’s Perth Glory

New Zealand age group international Kelli Brown has joined Perth Glory ahead of their next women’s A-League season.

Brown (23) left the Wellington Phoenix after the expiry of her contract at the end of last season, and has been playing since for NPLW New South Wales leaders Macarthur Rams, scoring 11 goals in 14 games.

She’ll be reunited with her former coach at Macarthur, Stephen Peters, who is now Glory’s head coach.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to work closely with Kelli at Macarthur,” Peters said.

“(I) am therefore aware of the blend of power and pace she brings to the table.

“She has a great pedigree, having always been involved in an elite environment and in recent years, has added a strong level of tactical awareness to her natural finishing ability.”

Brown was limited to one start and eight appearances in her second stint at the Wellington Phoenix last season. She was previously in the club’s inaugural women’s squad, joining from Auckland’s Northern Rovers.

She was part of the New Zealand side that won third place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay in 2018, and later won selection to the national U-20 squad.

Brown’s move to Perth Glory was helped by the Lee Fratelli agency, based in Auckland/Sydney.
