Auckland FC to play first game as five midweek matches go ahead under lights

Auckland football fans have a choice of five midweek matches to enjoy under floodlights, including the first appearance of A-League expansion club Auckland FC.

The A-League’s newest club will play Northern League side Auckland United in a friendly at Keith Hay Park, giving fans their first chance to see coach Steve Corica’s squad in action.

Auckland FC have 20 players under contract, including nine All Whites.

Across the harbour, Birkenhead United will get the chance to go top of the Northern League when Paul Hobson’s side face midtable Bay Olympic.

United are chasing a Northern League/Chatham Cup double, after reaching the cup semi-finals.

Midtable sides Ellerslie and Onehunga Mangere United will play a catch-up fixture at Michaels Ave in the Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship.

In the Lotto NRFL Men’s Northern Conference, Albany United meet Oratia United at North Harbour Stadium.

Central United can increase their lead in the NRF Men’s League One when they meet Mangere United at Takanini’s Sikh Temple grounds.
