Takapuna to celebrate 60th anniversary with dinner in August

Auckland club Takapuna will host a celebratory dinner in their Taharoto Park clubrooms to mark their 60th anniversary.

The dinner will be held on Saturday August 17, 2024.

In a message to members and supporters, past and present, the club says: “We are excited to commemorate six decades of football, community, and memories, and we would love for you to join us for this milestone event.”

Takapuna evolved from the Devonport-based North Shore United as the Auckland region grew rapidly with the opening of the Auckland Harbour Bridge a few years earlier.

Until the yellow and blue colours were adopted, Takapuna played in borrowed North Shore United strips.

Originally based at Onewa Domain, Northcote, an exchange of grounds took place in 1972 with the Takapuna Rugby Club, Takapuna FC moving to Taharoto Park, with the rugby club moving to Onewa Domain.

Dinner tickets

Tickets for the dinner are $75 each.

Enquires can be made by emailing: chairman@takapunaafc.co.nz.
