Start dates confirmed for new season of men’s and women’s A-Leagues

Dates have been confirmed for the starts of the women’s and men’s A-Leagues’ 2024-25 seasons.

The 26-game Isuzu UTE A-League men’s season will start over the weekend of October 18-20, 2024.

The 23-round Liberty A-League women’s season gets underway over the weekend of November 1-3, 2024.

The Australian Professional Leagues (APL) announced the dates, and confirmed the number of games to be played in the regular season for each league.

The women’s A-League season has been extended to a 23-game regular season as the league continues to expand to meet international standards.

The regular season will see each team play 22 home and away fixtures, with an additional game being played during Unite Round.

As in the 2023-24 season, the top six sides will qualify for the Liberty A-League 2025 finals series due to kick off on April 25-27, with the grand final scheduled for the weekend of May 16-18, 2025.

With expansion club Auckland FC joining the league, the men’s competition will become a 13-team competition.

The 20th anniversary of the league will see each club play 24 home and away fixtures, plus two additional third match-up fixtures (Unite Round and one other), and three byes.

As in the 2023-24 season, the top six sides will qualify for the finals series which start over the weekend of May 9-11, 2025, with the grand final to be played on the weekend of May 30 – June 1.
