WATCH: Former Phoenix striker Zawada scores double in first start for new club

Former Wellington Phoenix forward Oskar Zawada has got off to a flying start with his new Dutch Eredivisie club RKC Waalwijk.

In the starting line-up for the first time, Zawada scored twice in the first half to give his side a 2-0 lead against Belgian club OH Leuven in a pre-season match.

Zawada’s first goal was a deft header in the 10th minute and the second required him to finish a move set up by teammate Denilho Cleonise who dribbled into the box.

RKC Wallwijk wilted in the second half, losing the game 4-2.

Zawada (28) has signed a two-year deal with the Dutch club after his contract with A-League club Wellington Phoenix expired.

Zawada, who scored 22 goals in 42 games for the Phoenix, was out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
