Manawatu club recognises service of long-serving Jason Flynn

Long-serving Jason Flynn has been appointed as an honorary president of Palmerston North Marist after stepping down as chair of the Manawatu club.

Announcing Flynn’s new role, the club told social media followers: “This is a significant change within the club as Jason has been involved in some capacity for each of its 35 years.

“The club has grown exponentially since its modest inception in 1988 with just one team using second-hand rugby jerseys.

“There are now 16 senior teams, and the club is involved in a wide range of activities like the football and futsal academy, Futsal SuperLeague teams, U-19 programmes, teams in the Capital TDP leagues and many more.

“All of these have come about under Jason’s guidance.

“By no means is this the end of the road as Jason has accepted an honorary president role within the club to acknowledge his significant previous and ongoing contribution.

“Jase, thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for the club and its members!”
