Football Ferns goalkeeper Anna Leat signs new contract with Aston Villa

New Zealand international goalkeeper Anna Leat has agreed a new deal to keep her at English club Aston Villa.

Leat (23) has signed a new contract till June 2025, with the option to extend for another year.

The 18-cap Ferns ‘keeper joined the club from West Ham United in the summer of 2022 having spent the previous season with the London club.

Leat, who has made 22 first-team appearances for Aston Villa, will report for pre-season training after the Summer Olympics in Paris, where she’s part of New Zealand’s 18-player squad.

Arrowtown-born Leat achieved a high public profile in late 2018 when she scored the winning penalty at the FIFA U-17 World Cup against Japan to send New Zealand to the semi-finals. Her goal was voted the favourite sporting moment of the year at the 2018 Halberg Awards.

Leat played her youth football for Auckland clubs East Coast Bays and Glenfield Rovers.
