PREVIEW: Women’s Championship pits top sides against bottom-half rivals

The top four teams all face sides from the bottom half of the Lotto NRFL Women’s Championship in this weekend’s games.

Tauranga Moana — the newcomer to this season’s competition — have a two-point lead on the table, and appear likely to stay there with a fixture against bottom side Manukau United, who are yet to win this year.

Second-placed Onehunga Sports host Melville United, who are sixth, and need to win to keep in touch with the leaders.

Franklin United have a tricky trip to Central United, and have two games in hand on Tauranga Moana and Onehunga.

Mid-table sides Northern Rovers and Birkenhead United meet at McFetridge Park.
