New Zealand U-19s men’s head coach Chris Greenacre has downplayed his side’s 5-0 win against Samoa, saying the result flattered the team’s performance.

“I think we played against a really well-organised, stubborn team,” he told a post-match media briefing at the OFC U-19 Men’s Championship in Samoa.

“They’re well coached and they caused us a lot of problems.

“They were quite aggressive in their press and we had to find solutions to and break that down.”

Greenacre said he thought the New Zealand team was capable of better.

“But that’s me being super critical. I don’t want to take it away from the players.

“I’m delighted with the result.”
