Admin error prompts reallocation of points in Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship

An administration error has cost Takapuna a competition point and elevated Onehunga Mangere United on the Lotto NRFL Men’s Championship ladder.

Northern Region Football have voided the 2-2 draw played between the clubs on Friday June 21, 2024, awarding the three points to Onehunga Mangere United.

The match is now considered a 3-0 win to Onehunga Mangere United.

The breach of eligibility rules was caused by an administrative error by Takapuna.

The regulation breached by Takapuna states a team in the Championship can field:

A maximum number of Five (5) Non-Citizen Players and one (1) additional Foreign Player who has the nationality of an Oceania Football Confederation member association.

The reallocation of points meant Onehunga Mangere United moved from fifth to fourth on the table despite losing 3-0 to Ngaruawahia United in last weekend’s fixture.
