All Whites winger Joey Champness and his second career as a rapper

posted in: A-League (Men), News

All Whites winger Joey Champness is working on two careers at once — as a professional footballer and as a recording artist who performs under the name JOWIC.

His biggest single so far, My Plan, has been viewed more than 3.5 million times on music platforms and has screened on music TV stations, including BET James and VH1 Soul.

In 2019, he left A-League club Newcastle Jets to pursue a music career in Los Angeles but returned to Australia in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

After a spell playing football in Turkey, Champness signed for A-League expansion club Auckland FC ahead of the 2024-25 A-League season.
