Football Manager gamers get chance to claim world crown huge cash prize

Online football managers will get the chance to claim first prize of US$100,000 (NZ$164,000) by winning the inaugural FIFAe World Cup of Football Manager.

FIFA Chief of Global Football Development Arsène Wenger has been named as the event ambassador for the online gaming tournament to be held from August 29 — September 1, 2024.

Announcing its partnership with Sports Interactive, FIFAe said: “This one-of-a-kind union will bring digital and traditional football together like never before, celebrating the best esports coaches from around the world.”

In the inaugural year, selected member associations will be invited to be represented at the final event.

These invitations will be based on eligibility and number of players per nation, ensuring fair and representative competition across the globe.

New Zealand currently ranks #50 of the 90 nations competing in FIFAe events.

Players can sign up at FIFA.GG to find out more about the qualification process in their territory.

Arsène Wenger, the Chief of Global Football Development at FIFA, has been appointed as the ambassador for the esports event.
