Whanganui’s Gary MacKenzie awarded Life Membership by Central Football

Long-time Whanganui-based coach and administrator Gary MacKenzie has become Central Football’s latest Life Member.

The former Central Football board member received the accolade at the federation’s 24th annual general meeting held in late May 2024.

In its recognition of MacKenzie, Central Football said the life membership recognised his service to the federation and “his considerable contribution towards football in the Whanganui region as a coach, administrator and keen supporter and advocate for the women’s game.”

MacKenzie has coached at the Whanganui Athletic and Durie Hill clubs. He stood down from the Central Football board in 2023, after serving for six years.

Meanwhile, Hawkes Bay’s Jamie Hall was re-elected by members for a further term on the board and confirmed as chair.
