New Zealand to go into knockout stages of World University Futsal Champs

posted in: Futsal, News

New Zealand’s women’s team will play Brazil in the semi-finals of the FISU World University Futsal Championships in Shanghai.

The team clinched a last-four spot with a 2-1 win against Poland in their final group game.

The semi-final, to be played on Friday June 14, provides the opportunity for New Zealand to meet either Portugal or China in the tournament final.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand men’s team lost their final group game 7-4 to Croatia, meaning they will go into the play-offs to decide places 9-12 at the tournament.

On Friday, New Zealand face Hong Kong, with the winner then meeting the winner of the play-off between China and Oman.

All games will be streamed live by the tournament organisers.
