WATCH: Football celebrates Rosie Ah Wong, our first Pasifika Fern

Forty five years after her debut for the New Zealand women’s national team, Rosie Ah Wong has been presented with her debut cap.

The cap recognises her achievement as Football Fern #14 and at the ceremony to present it, she was also celebrated for being the first Pasifika player to represent the Ferns.

On April 13, 2024, Ah Wong received her cap at Football Fest 2024, held at the same Manukau United club for whom she once played.

Since the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, NZ Football have presented debut caps to many past Ferns, recognising the parts they played in the establishment of women’s football in Aotearoa New Zealand.
